Friday: Hunger Day!

On Hunger Day, join us in not eating lunch, and donate the money you would have spent on lunch to help us bag 10,000 bags of beans and rice for the hungry at CCF from 12pm to 2pm. If you would like to, give up all meals on Friday, or if you can’t give up food, give up something else. Please change your Facebook profile picture to the linked image, and make your Facebook status read ”One in seven people in the world will go to bed hungry tonight.”

Remember to come and pick up your green name tag from CCF in the morning! Write on it “got food?”. We will also have Dum Dums with the day’s message on them you can pick up to hand out to your friends. If you would like to help prepare the Dum Dums for each day contact Marc Smith at marc@gtccf.org.

Also: CCF is collecting hygene items, socks, underwear, shoes, and hand towels all week. Please remember to purchase and donate before the end of the week!

Box Day Devo

Thursday: Box Day!

On Box Day, we will be sleeping in cardboard boxes in the North Avenue Quad Thursday night starting at 10pm. There will be people at the gates in the turnaround to let you into North Ave. We are raising awareness about the people in the world who do not have a place to call home. Please change your profile picture to the linked image.

Remember to come and pick up your green name tag from CCF in the morning! Write on it “Boxing Out Homelessness”. We will also have Dum Dums with the day’s message on them you can pick up to hand out to your friends. If you would like to help prepare the Dum Dums for each day contact Marc Smith at marc@gtccf.org.

Jug Day Devo

Wednesday: Jug Day!

On Jug Day, we will carry around 1 gallon jug of water with us all day and use it for all of our water related needs (bathing, washing hands, drinking, brushing teeth, etc.). We are raising awareness about the people in the world who do not have access to clean water.

Remember to come and pick up your green nametag from CCF in the morning! Write on it “every 20 sec” because every 20 seconds, a child dies of a water related illness. We will also have small green flyers and Dum Dums with the day’s message on them you can pick up to hand out to your friends. If you would like to help prepare the Dum Dums for each day contact Marc Smith at marc@gtccf.org.

Blackout Day Devo

Tuesday: Blackout Day

On Blackout Day we will all wear black and not use any electricity or electronics to raise awareness about those who do not have electricity. We are focusing on people in the US who don’t have electricity this year. Facebook statuses should read “What if you couldn’t afford your electric bill? If I had no electricity I would miss ______.” and have the profile picture as a lightbulb. (Don’t forget to do this Monday night, y’know, before you can’t use the computer.)

Remember to come and pick up your green nametag from CCF in the morning! Write on it “No electricity= ____” and fill in the blank with whatever you would miss most. Also, Cafe Unplugged is at CCF at 8pm!!!

Sock Day Devo

Week of Compassion: Sock Day!

Kick it all off with us at 9 AM at the Student Center (Campanile side) on Monday. We’ll walk back to CCF shoeless and hang our shoes on the clothes line. (For Monday, carry sandals or extra shoes in case you absolutely need shoes somewhere OR hang ‘em over your shoulder or on your bag).

Additionally, wear a green name tag that says POVERTY SOCKS!

Week Of Compassion

Week of compassion will be April 2nd-6th. Join us as we get a glimpse into the everyday struggles of people around us so that we can love them and be moved to help alleviate those struggles.

Monday: Socks – Kickoff Day: Wear only socks. Kickoff the week by kicking off your shoes! Kickoff @ 9 am at the Campanile next to the Student Center. (You may want to carry an extra pair of sandals or flip flops in case you need to go somewhere that requires shoes. Alternatively, you could wear an extra pair of shoes over your shoulder or on your bag to represent the theme of the day.)

Tuesday: Electricity – Blackout Day: Wear black shirts, and don’t use electricity/electronics (phones, laptops, etc). Café Unplugged @ 8 pm at CCF.

Wednesday: Water – Jug Day: Live on 1 gallon of water for all your water needs (drinking, bathing, brushing teeth, etc.).

Thursday: Shelter – Box Day: Sleep in boxes in the North Avenue Apartments Quad from Thursday night @ 10 pm to Friday morning @ 7 am. Bring your box and your sleeping bag. North Ave. Residents will escort you in. Bathrooms are available.

Friday: Food – Hunger Day: Give up all meals or just lunch (or something else if you can’t give up food), and donate the money you would have spent on food to help us bag 10,000 bags of beans and rice for the hungry from 12 pm – 2 pm at CCF.

Everyone is invited to come by CCF each day starting at 9 AM to pick up a green name tag with the statement of the day on it to wear around campus. We will also have Dum Dums labelled with information about each day that you can pick up and distribute to people around campus. E-mail Marc Smith @ marc@gtccf.org if you want to help add labels to Dum Dums.

Each day we will update Facebook profiles and pictures, wear pins on our shirts to tell more about what we’re doing, chalk on campus, and pass out handouts for more info about the day.

All week we will also be collecting personal goods at CCF including hygiene items (dental care, feminine hygiene, body wash, shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, wipes, etc.), socks, underwear, and hand towels to donate to the homeless at the Gateway Center at the end of the week. We will also be collecting shoes this week for soles4souls, so there will be a box for those at CCF in addition to the boxes for personal item donations.

Restoration Atlanta

A service Saturday.

Starts with Breakfast at the CCF House at 9 AM on Feb. 11th

Choice of:

1. Serving at the home of a family affected by cancer.

2. Cleanup Project alongside Middle Schoolers at City of Refuge.

3. Quality Time with Refugees from around the world who have been resettled in Clarkston near Decatur, GA.

4. Put on a Block Party with our friends from the streets at Central Park in Atlanta and learn their stories

5. A painting project at the Gateway Center for the homeless.

Projects are different in nature and are different lengths so choose what fits!

You will be responsible for your own lunch that day.
